Birthdays, milestones and life events make me both happy and sad in equal measures. I’m an emotional creature and my bladder is very near my eyes 99% of the time. James turned two, still a baby in my eyes but no longer a baby by definition I yearn for the early days but love watching him grow, talk and learn. I fear him growing up and leaving me but I soon realize that that’s my selfish and completely unrealistic side, which often rears its ugly head. He’s only two and doesn’t understand yet that he has no Dad around for these milestones but I can’t help feeling guilty along with a pain deep in my stomach that is simply indescribable. I don’t feel sad on a day to day basis but I do get tired of having constant chats with myself about my old ideals and how my life veered way off what I was taught to believe was the regular route. Sometimes I just want to go outside and scream at the top of my lungs and start again!
Well I did it (screamed that is) and it felt great. I had a sneaky smile at James birthday and I thought to myself new day, new choices, new chances and the list goes on. We went to Tayto Park. James had the time of his life. There really is something for everyone including the adults. We had great fun on the zip line and literally had to be pushed out the door at the end of the day. The staff were great and very patient with a big group of varied ages and maturity (yes my adult friends that’s you). Every detail is taken care of. Cake, fab food, pressie, goodie bags!! James had to be dragged kicking and screaming from the playground so it’s safe to say we’ll be back soon!

I saw you on Midday recently taking about Omegas and how they helped you with your depression. What were they called and where can I get them from?
A number of people have emailed asking the same question. Omega 3 is essential for mood and concentration. Every cell in your body needs it and if you’re not eating oily fish 3 times a week you are not getting enough. I weaned myself off anti-depressants using them and religiously take them every day. The quality of the product is also of great importance and I recommend MorEPA, which is available in most pharmacies or from www.shieldhealth.ie
