      back-to-top

I’m training for a run at the moment, chuck in upcoming exams and assignments, some work and of course being a mum and is it a wonder i’m struggling with energy these days??

I love experimenting with different juices and smoothies and researching the benefits of certain ingredients. Beetroot has been linked with better stamina, improved blood flood and lower blood pressure. It’s the stamina I’m after which inspired my smoothie today before I went training.

IMG_4523I juiced 3 medium beetroots first and then I poured the juice into my nutribullet and added the rest of my ingredients:

1 lemon or 1/2 large lemon squeezed into the beetroot

2 scoops of Energy Boost powder which includes

Lucama- that has Iron which contributes to normal oxygen transport in the body

Maca-     which provides the antioxidant copper which has been used by ancient peruvians for hundreds of years

Hemp Protein-  Provides vitamin B3 to help reduce tiredness and fatigue and

Cacao-   A good source of magnesium which contributes to normal energy yielding metabolism (it also gives a yummy chocolately flavour!!)

1 Banana (Frozen as I like my smoothies cold) then simply

Fill to the line with almond milk or where you feel your choice in consistency is best and I also added a large sprinkle of Tumeric powder

IMG_4527Tumeric has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant. I throw it into everything these days including rice and James loves it as it turns the rice a bright yellow colour which is fun but with huge health benefits for kids.

IMG_4528Besides being incredibly creamy and tasty I felt great during my training today. This smoothie is great for anyone who’s juggling a lot of balls and leads a busy life (so pretty much everyone these days). The colour alone makes me smile. Full of nutrients and it literally took me less than 10 minutes to make

IMG_4530Pour it into a reusable container and take it with you.. SO NO excuses xxx
