This week I’m delighted to be talking to Roz Purcell about her lifestyle and wellness tips. I find Roz hugely inspirational and her brand Natural Born Feeder is growing from strength to strength. She is a really bright light for her generation and a great role model.
Roz introduced me to colouring which I now love to do and as you’ll see below it is something she loves as it helps her to relax and forget about her worries.
A true beauty inside and out read below to see what helps Roz to be more complete in her daily life
How would you describe your lifestyle?
I have a very active lifestyle in terms of my career and working out. As a model I am usually always on the go running from job to job. I love to always be on the go and doing something – I like to have a plan and keep myself busy. I train everyday also as it makes me feel refreshed and energized for the day ahead!
What’s your favorite food? Naughty or nice?
Nice! I am 80:20 with my diet in that I don’t restrict myself from certain food groups. I love cooking and baking healthy food. I stay away from processed foods and eat lots of fruit, veg, fish and meat. I love to recreate glutinous meals or desserts into healthy meals or treats. My favourite meal would be my lamb tangine – it’s such a comfort meal for me.
Do you exercise and if so what do you do to keep fit?
I try to exercise daily. Working out helps me feel energized for the day ahead. The endorphins you get from working out is better than anything else – I think it really sets you up mentally for the day. I mix up my workouts and do boxing, weight training and cardio. Mixing it up keeps it exciting and challenging.
How do you find balance in your day-to-day life?
I have learned how to have a balanced lifestyle – it has taken some time. I think it is hugely important to take time out from what it going on and sit back and process it all. It’s easy to get caught up in things and never really take a break. Exercising helps me find a balance – I find it is a great way to distress and help you to think positively. I always feel great when I have worked out in the morning and feel full of energy for the day ahead.
How do you manage stress in your life? Do you meditate? Have you ever tried it?
I love to colour! I have practiced other forms of mindfulness from daily gratitude, meditation and body scans before. All great forms to practice if applied properly but they never really worked for me. I would forget to do it, push it aside or lack the ability to switch off and concentrate. I wasn’t really sure what I was meant to be doing!
Recently I have replaced the hours or so of pointless phone watching and Instagram scrolling in exchange for colouring. I loved to colour as a child but was never that great at keeping inside the lines. I lacked the ability to concentrate on one thing for too long and the desire to get it done fast was always over powering. This has been a different experience. After I finish a little coloring whether its 15 minutes or an hour, every issue I have big or small, is forgotten. All that I am focused on is what colour I will use next. Everything else disappears.
People often set goals or intentions as they go through life. Is this setting you do and do you practice gratitude?
I set short term and long-term goals for myself in terms of my modeling, my social life, exercising and my brand natural born feeder. As I have so much going on I feel that setting goals helps me stay on track and knew that I am working towards something. It can help to stay focus. When you achieve goals it makes you appreciate how far you have come and what you have learned. When you don’t achieve certain goals it just makes you work harder.
How do you unwind after a busy day?
Same as above I love to colour!!
It’s the weekend, what do you do for fun?
At the weekend I love to relax and go out for food. I love food as you know, so I am always trying out new places to eat in town! Sounds very exciting I know!
What’s your top health tip for our readers?
Judging from my own experience, it is all about balance! Try to have a balanced diet and a balanced lifestyle. Learn how to unwind after the day and give your mind a break.
Finish the sentence – being complete for me means…
being happy and being able to share my love of cooking and baking with others.
